Vice President-elect Jejomar Binay said on Wednesday he would have "no hard feelings" towards President-elect Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III if he would not be chosen to head the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) post.

“I do not have the right to have hard feelings if I will not be chosen. When I was questioned about my plans, I answer my interest to head the DILG post but I never demanded for the post,” said Binay.

Saying that he doesn’t mind heading another post as Cabinet member, Binay stressed this “is the prerogative of the President.”

“I am just vocal about the post because it is my expertise since I am the most senior as I have 20-year experience as city mayor of Makati,” said Binay.

He did not reply when asked about his second choice of department or governtment agency to head.

Amid reports that Aquino is considering several candidates for the position of DILG secretary, including the name of Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo, Binay said “he is qualified but at the end of the day, it is a presidential prerogative.”

Up to now, Binay said he has not spoken with President Aquino but he is keen on asking him how he can help and what will be his role in his administration.

“I will just listen to what the President assigns me,” said the Vice President.

Asked about his relationship with the President-elect, Binay described Aquino as a personal friend who has been with him through thick and thin.

Binay also confirmed that he and Aquino will have just one inauguration on June 30.

"There is no reason to have separate inauguration since it is the tradition. I will take oath where President Aquino will take his oath of office," pointed BInay.

Aquino said he will take his oath before Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales and will hold a three-part program for his inauguration on June 30 that will end with a street party in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, he also confirmed that the old Makati city hall is now undergoing renovation to prepare the building as his office.

Joey Salgado, Makati information and community relations department chief, said that Binay would hold his office at the five-storey building after the renovation.

A city hall staff confirmed that city engineering’s office have visited the five-storey building to prepare the layout of Binay's new office.

The old city hall is not far from his former office on the 21st floor of the Makati city hall.
