GENERAL SANTOS CITY — World boxing champion and Congressman-elect Manny Pacquiao had four points in 14 minutes of action as host MP Pacman Gensan Warriors defeated Treston-Laguna, 73-69, Thursday at the start of the Tournament of the Philippines second leg at the Lagao gym here.

In the other game, Cobra Energy Drink drew big games from Elmer Espiritu and Rudy Lingganay to survive Misamis Oriental, 70-69.

The victories thus moved both teams within a win of clinching a finals berth in the short elimination round of the tournament jointly organized by the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) and Liga Pilipinas.

Pacquiao, who took a break from his studies, shot 2-of-12 from the field, his lone baskets coming in the first quarter, one a driving lay up off a screen for the team’s first basket and the other a fade away shot inside the paint.

Wearing a Michael Jordan-inspired Nike shoes, the boxing star started out for the host squad, which was led by John Gonzaga who scored 20 points.
