Besides boxing and billiards, the Philippines is also making a mark in the field of international motorsports.

Since leaving for the United States in 2009, 14-year-old Alessandra Madrigal has been making waves against the best karters from all over North America.

The Fil-Am youngster has already proven her mettle by winning the KF3 title and finishing second in the Rotax Junior class of the 2009 Championship Karting International (CKI) National Championship for the Winter Series as well as second place in the TAG Junior for Florida Winter Tour National Championship.

Her exploits earned her the distinction of being named E Karting News Driver of the Month for February – only the second female to be so honored.

Plans are now underway to field her in the Rotax Euro Max Championships in Europe as part of her preparation to represent the Philippines and the U.S. in the KF3 division of the CIK-FIA (Commission International du Karting-Federation International de l’Automobile) World Karting Championship, which will be held in New Jersey, USA.
