Makati fetes 10 outstanding corporate citizens
As a fitting culmination to Makati’s 340th Foundation Day celebration, the city government said it will recognize its “10 Outstanding Corporate Citizens.”
Outgoing Makati Mayor and Vice President-elect Jejomar Binay said the awardees, along with members of the diplomatic corps, foreign and local chambers of commerce, the business community and other stakeholders, will be feted at the traditional thanksgiving dinner hosted by the city government.
“We thank our investors and corporate taxpayers for their invaluable contributions to the success of Makati, which continues to be known across the globe as the financial hub of the country. They are our key partners in the development of Makati, and they deserve to be recognized,” Binay said.
The 10 awardees are Ayala Land, Inc., Hewlett-Packard Philippines Corporation, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., Procter & Gamble Distributing (Phils.) Inc., Homeworld Shopping Corp., Mead Johnson Nutrition (Phils.) Inc., Rockwell Land Corporation, Glaxosmithkline Philippines, Inc., SM Mart, Inc., and Universal Motors Corporation.
Binay said the stability and prosperity being enjoyed by the city and its people are owed largely to its corporate citizens that have religiously fulfilled their obligations to their host city, such as paying the right taxes promptly and actively engaging in socially responsive programs.
“Without the financial stability provided by our corporate citizens, Makati will not be able to provide the basic social services that our residents, investors, and visitors enjoy," the three-term mayor said.
