Arum not in a hurry

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum was a bit embarrassed when told that the June 30 self-imposed deadline to determine whether the megabuck welterweight matchup starring Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is going to push through or not is about to lapse.

“Well, we might extend it until next month,” Arum said yesterday from Las Vegas after telling the international media last week that something will be resolved by the end of June.

The extra time is obviously aimed at giving every chance to the completion of negotiations between Arum’s Top Rank Inc. and Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), the Los Angeles-based firm that represents Mayweather.
