Apart from looking into the alleged “midnight appointments” made by his predecessor, President Aquino is bent on reviewing supposed midnight contracts approved by former President Arroyo in the remaining days of her administration.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the President has given his Cabinet secretaries two weeks to scrutinize all deals entered by their departments in recent years.

Included in the status reports being prepared by the Cabinet are the existing budget and assets of each department to get a clear view of the state of the nation.

Lacierda, speaking in a media forum over Radyo ng Bayan, assured the Aquino leadership would take the appropriate steps if any government contract is found irregular.

“The Cabinet secretaries have been given two weeks to know the lay of the land. Each department secretary will review each contract entered by the past administration. Included in the review are supposed midnight deals,” he said.
