Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Teresita Q. Deles said yesterday that a lot of international donors are set to come in to help in the resettlement of families displaced because of previous fighting between government troops and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Deles said the international donors are coming in as part of efforts to help thousands of families who were displaced because of fightings between members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the MILF almost two years ago.

“There a lot of international donors coming in to help in the resettling of the families,” Deles said.

In a report earlier submitted by OPAPP, a total of 500,000 families who were displaced from their homes after fighting broke out between government troops and MILF forces in August 2008 have already returned to their homes since the resumption of Formal Talks from December 8-9, 2009.
The resumption of talks, it was recalled, also paved the way for the suspension of hostilities between the two warring groups. However, approximately 100,000 people are still house in different evacuation centers waiting for the chance to return home.
