Controversial actress Gretchen Barretto seems to have mended her ways as she now avoids answering intrigue-laden questions stemming from her request to co-star Derek Ramsay to give her solo photos of him from his South Africa trip.

Gretchen’s seemingly innocent request did not sit well with the hunk’s girlfriend Angelica Panganiban, who apparently took a swipe at Gretchen via her Twitter message that read, “Single ka ‘te.”

At a magazine launch recently, Gretchen watered down questions about Derek. Asked if he has given her the photos she requested, Gretchen said, “Out with the old, in with the new. Old na ‘yang tsismis na ‘yan. Laos na ‘yan. Hindi na, ‘wag na nating balikan. Ang hilig-hilig n’yong magbalik, ‘di ba. Let’s just enjoy the moment. Tapos na ‘yan. Let’s just be positive. Tigilan na natin ‘yang mga negative na ‘yan.”

The interview which aired on “Juicy” last July 5, also showed Gretchen exulting in the good feedback that her show “Magkaribal” is reaping in the primetime slot. She was thankful that it got high ratings when it premiered last week.

Even her partner, businessman Tonyboy Cojuangco, enjoys the show.

“Nanonood siya (Tonyboy). Siyempre nanonood siya kasama ko and natutuwa siya na ako si Victoria. Proud siya sa akin,” she said.

Her daughter Dominique also has praises for her.

“Wala siya, nasa Paris pero nanood siya ng isang episode. Sabi niya, ‘You’re so cool mom,’” Gretchen shared.

Inspired by the performance of her TV show in the ratings game, Gretchen is giving her best in “Magkaribal.”

“Ang emosyon ko, meron ako siyempre na inspirasyon. Dahil siguro din excited ako na magtrabaho dahil nabigyan ako ng chance ng PMPC last November 30 na mapanalunan ‘yung MMK Best Actress Award for a Single Performance By An Actress. Sabi ko, 'Ay, naku pag-iigihan ko na ito para sa lahat,'” she said.

Is it true that she once said that the only award-giving body she knows is the PMPC Star Awards, which gave her her first acting trophy?

Gretchen confirmed so, pointing out that “‘yun lang naman [kasi] ‘yung TV award giving body. Kung natatandaan ninyo, wala naman akong full length movie para ma-nominate for [that].”
