ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) anchor Ricky Carandang has officially resigned from the network to accept Malacañang's offer to be part of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's communications team, according to a report from abs-cbnnews.com.

"Yes, I resigned from ABS. Thanks," Carandang confirmed through a text message to the Manila Bulletin on Saturday.

In a statement released by the network, Carandang tendered his resignation on Friday, July 09, 2010, which was "accepted by the management".

Carandang, according to ABS-CBN's report, will be an integral part of the Palace's communications arm as he will be tasked to formulate the government's messages.

Another former ANC anchor Manolo Quezon III (host of "The Explainer") is also being eyed to be named to the communications team.
