9-of-10 Filipinos trust Noynoy

Nine out of 10 Filipinos expressed “much trust” in President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, based on a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Monday.

In the non-commissioned nationwide survey conducted from June 25 to 28 with 1,200 respondents, 88 percent of Filipinos have “much trust” and 4 percent have “little trust” in Aquino, which translate to a “very good” net trust rating of +83.

SWS terminology for net trust ratings are translated as follows: +50 and above, very good; +30 to +49, good; +10 to +29, moderate; +9 to -9, neutral; -10 to -29, poor; -30 to -49, bad; and -50 or lower, very bad.”

The respondents were particularly asked, “Maaari po bang sabihin ninyo kung ang pagtitiwala ninyo kay Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III ay napakalaki, medyo malaki, hindi tiyak kung malaki o maliit, medyo maliit, napakaliit, o wala pa kayong narinig o nabasa kahit na kailan tungkol kay Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III?” (“Could you tell if your trust for Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is much trust, very much, somewhat much, undecided, little trust, somewhat little, or very little?”)

SWS found that the net trust rating in Aquino is highest in the Visayas and upper to middle classes ABC.

His net trust rating is highest in the Visayas at +87 (91 percent much trust, 3 percent little trust), followed by Balance Luzon at +84 (88 percent much trust, 4 percent little trust), Metro Manila at +84 (88 percent much trust, 4 percent little trust), and Mindanao at +79 (84 percent much trust, 6 percent little trust).

By class, it is highest in the upper to middle classes ABC at +88 (90 percent much trust, 2 percent little trust), followed by class D or the masa at +83 (88 percent much trust, 4 percent little trust), and poorest class E at +82 (87 percent much trust, 5 percent little trust).

Vice President Jejomar Binay also registered a “very good” net trust rating of +69 with 77 percent having “much trust” and 8 percent that have “little trust” in him.

The Vice President’s net trust rating is highest in Balance Luzon at +73 (79 percent much trust, 6 percent little trust), followed by Metro Manila at +69 (77 percent much trust, 8 percent little trust), Mindanao at +67 (76 percent much trust, 8 percent little trust), and the Visayas at +64 (76 percent much trust, 11 percent little trust).

It is highest in Class E at +77 (82 percent much trust, 5 percent little trust), followed by class D at +67 (76 percent much trust, 8 percent little trust), and class ABC at +64 (76 percent much trust, 12 percent little trust).

To the question, “Sa inyong palagay, ilan sa mga pangako ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino noong kampanya ang matutupad niya? Lahat ng mga pangako, halos lahat ng mga pangako, mga ilan sa mga pangako, halos wala sa mga pangako, o wala sa mga pangako?” (In your opinion, how many of President Noynoy Aquino’s promises during the campaign can he fulfill?”)

About 53 percent of Filipinos believe that President Aquino can fulfill a few of his promises during the campaign, 19 percent said almost all, 14 percent all, 4 percent almost none, and 5 percent none.

Half to majority in all areas and classes said President Aquino can fulfill a few of his campaign promises.

It is 58 percent in Balance Luzon, 55 percent in Metro Manila, 49 percent in the Visayas, and 48 percent in Mindanao.

By class, it is 55 percent in Class D, 51 percent in Class E, and 49 percent in Class ABC.

Optimism that President Aquino can fulfill all or almost all of his promises during the campaign is highest in Mindanao (37 percent), followed by Balance Luzon (34 percent), Metro Manila (30 percent), and the Visayas (28 percent).
