The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) assured on Friday that there will be no more rotating brownouts after 100 percent of its distribution circuits have been restored.

Meralco’s assurance was made after system operator National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said that the Luzon grid is now stable.

Meralco External Communications Head Joe Zaldarriaga said that 683 or (100 percent) of distribution circuits have been energized ensuring enough power supply to areas which they distribute electricity, including Metro Manila, and parts of Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Batangas.

Earlier, massive blackouts affected Meralco’s service areas after transmission facilities were damaged by typhoon “Basyang”.

Zaldarriaga explained that services to customers are directly connected to secondary lines emanating from these distribution circuits.

“If a customer, therefore, notices that power has already been restored in their neighborhood but their residence continues to be without electricity, then this may be due to a localized trouble.”

“This may be caused by a problem specific to the line connecting to them, among other possibilities. An example of this may be a downed pole or branches of trees hanging on electric lines,” he added.

Zaldarriaga said in such isolated cases, the customer can report their concern to the Meralco Call Center at 16211.

“We’ll take appropriate actions to resolve the problem,” Zaldarriaga assured.
