Lani Misalucha sets sight on new show venue in Vegas

Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha is mulling signing up with another casino hotel in Las Vegas, according to her husband and manager Noli Misalucha.
“She’s now setting her sight on one of three major casino hotels in the Las Vegas Strip that are offering their more sizeable theaters to her,” Noli said in an article published by The Philippine Star on July 17.
The US-based singer has staged the audience and critics’ favorite “Voices” show at Hilton, Las Vegas, for more than a year. However, Noli said his wife opted not to renew her contract with show producer Giordano World Entertainment because “Lani didn’t like the terms being offered to her in the new contract.”
“Aside from the issue of wages, Lani’s request to revamp the show and give it a new packaging was turned down. It had been running for one year kaya dapat lang na ma-improve or maiba naman,” he related.
He said that Lani continued to perform at the Hilton until June even when her contract had already expired last April. “When we realized it was getting nowhere, we decided to just give it up. But actually, naka-hang pa rin ang negotiation kung tutuusin. But Giordano and Hilton have given us the clearance to move to other venues,” he added.
Noli declined to reveal which big-time casino hotels want to get his wife. “Baka ma-preempt,” he quipped. He did say, however, that the concept of Lani’s new show will be “high-tech” and “will take months to create.”
Nevertheless, he said that they are ready to move to another venue since “this is not something unusual in this kind of business.”
While negotiations are still ongoing, Noli said Lani’s schedule will be occupied with concerts and a TV show. This month marks the beginning of her seven-month US-Canada and Philippine tour. Sometime in October, Vice Ganda will fly to the US to join Lani in some of her shows. Come 2011, the acclaimed singer will return to the Philippines to hold shows in key cities.
Lani is also set to host a weekly talk show in V Asian TV, a global channel which showcases music and pop culture.
Dubbed the “Siren of the Strip,” Lani has been performing in Vegas since 2004, beginning with Bally’s and Flamingo, after which she moved to the Hilton. She was hailed as 2008’s Best Singer of the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Annual Best of Las Vegas.
