PNP updates kidnappers wanted posters
No luck in betting on lotto? Maybe you should try looking for wanted kidnappers instead. No need to shell out money, all you need is a little information and the numbers to call in case you chance upon them.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Wednesday released the new wanted posters for notorious kidnappers who remain at large, with bounties ranging from P100,000 to a whopping P250 million.
“These are updated posters, because most of those listed in the previous posters were already arrested or neutralized,” said Senior Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., PNP spokesman.
“The printing is ongoing, we will immediately distribute these all over the country in order to encourage the public to assist us in locating them. We encourage this kind of strategy because most of the wanted criminals arrested in the past were neutralized with the assistance from the public,” he added.
Based on the new wanted poster, Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) senior leader Isnilon Hapilon has the biggest price tag with P250-million bounty on his head, followed by fellow ASG commander Radullan Sahiron who carries a P10-million reward.
The bounties for the two come mostly from the Reward for Justice by the United States Government for their involvement in kidnappings in the past years, particularly the Dos Palmas kidnapping which involved three Americans, including missionaries Gracia and Martin Burnham, as victims.
Gracia was rescued in a military operation in Zamboanga where his husband Martin was killed. The third American victim, Guillermo Sobero, was beheaded.
The posters also include at least three policemen. One of them is from the police elite Special Action Force, PO1 Raniel Abogado, who was involved in the kidnap-slay of a retired pilot in Cavite last year.
“All the information and the identities of the tipsters will be treated strictly confidential,” vowed Cruz.
The official said the tipsters may report the information to the police station or the headquarters of the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (PACER) or by calling 727-000, 117, 0917-8475757 or through text message on 2920.
“If the information led to the arrest of Isnilon Hapilon, the tipster would immediately get the P250-million reward,” said Cruz.
“This would be easier and the probability of getting the reward is higher compared to betting on lotto in which you will have one-in-a-million chance of winning,” said Cruz.
A total of 10,000 copies of the posters will be printed and distributed. The fund came from the PNP Foundation.
Most of the 21 notorious kidnapping suspects in the posters bear names and pictures except for seven of who have cartographic sketches.
