Rep. Gloria keeps low profile in House
Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo wants to keep a low profile for the next two to three months, but will be available for interviews with the press after that.
Mrs. Arroyo arrived at the House of Representatives on Wednesday morning to inspect her new office, but she declined to be interviewed by reporters.
“Don’t interview me. Interview me two or three months from now. Low profile muna ako," she said.
She was dressed in a blue jacket and purple leggings, and has done away with the trappings of power that attended her when she was president, like a long convoy of vehicles with sirens and blinkers and a huge retinue of security aides and advisers.
Last week, she was seen with her husband and son going through the regular departure procedures at the airport, on their way for a short vacation in Hong Kong.
Now that she's representing her home province of Pampanga in Congress, Mrs. Arroyo said her focus will be on the concerns of her fellow citizens in Pampanga.
She also rallied her party-mates in the Lakas-Kampi-CMD to support President Aquino, especially his legislative agenda which he's expected to reveal in his first State of the Nation Address on Monday.
Mrs. Arroyo arrived at around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to inspect the big office that she had accepted after it had been formally offered to her by the House of Representatives.
She was seen walking around the room and seemingly directing renovations to the room which used to be the office of former Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr.
