Cebu forced a rubber match for the Dunkin Donuts Baseball Philippines Series 6 crown after beating Manila, 10-9, on Saturday at the Felino Marcelino Baseball Stadium in Taguig City.
National team member Jonash Ponce broke a 7-all tie in the bottom half of the eighth inning when he hit a double that scored Fongs Rances, who earlier singled then stole second that set up the go-ahead run.
The Dolphins, who trailed 3-0 in the first three innings, added two more runs after Sharks centerfielder Saxon Omandac poorly fielded a base hit by Jonard Pareja that pulled home Joseph Orillana and Ponce to make it a 10-7 lead.
Manila, seeking its first-ever title after three finals appearance, made a last ditch effort in the top of the ninth when pinch runner Jarus Inobio scored on a sacrifice fly by Romy Bumagat and Christian Galedo touched home plate on a groundout by Jenald Pareja. — Jonas Terrado
