World No. 2 Lee Vann Corteza and former double world champion Ronato Alcano will lead the expected Filipino charge when the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool – a 10-Ball Challenge – starts this Friday at the central atrium of the Mall Taman Anggrek in Jakarta.

The RP contingent is hoping to score a follow-up to the magical win of Francisco “Django” Bustamante in the recent World 9-Ball Championship.

Bustamante, however, is not going to compete in the tournament along with buddy Efren “Bata” Reyes.

The other RP bets chasing for the grand prize in the $95,000 event are world no.7 Antonio Lining, former world no. 1 Dennis Orcullo, Antonio Gabica, Victor Arpilleda, Carlo Biado, Jundel Mazon, Jeffrey De Luna and 2004 WPA 9-Ball Champion Alex Pagulayan.

The road to glory will not be easy, that’s for sure.

They will be up against a tough field that includes world No. 1 Mika Immonen.

Also in the cast are World No. 3 Ralf Souquet (GER), Thorsten ‘The Hitman’ Hohmann (GER), 2007 US Open 9-Ball Champion Shane Van Boening (USA), Stevie Moore (USA), and current World No. 5 Darren Appleton (GBR).
