PCSO’s Super Lotto pot breaches P100 million
Starting Tuesday night's draw that registered no winner, the jackpot for the Super Lotto 6/49 of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has climbed to P102,571,311.60. Super Lotto is drawn every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
With the increase in the jackpot prize to over P100 million in the Super Lotto, bettors are expected to troop this Friday to their favorite betting stations to try their luck and be instant millionaires in a breeze.
PCSO's lottery draws have not registered any winner in the jackpot recently, except for a 50-year-old woman from Caloocan City who won the guaranteed P3 million prize on July 20 for the 6/42 draw.
It was a small jackpot compared to the rest, but still the lone bettor for last week's 6/42 lotto draw is now a millionaire.
Earlier, PCSO Assistant General Manager for On-Line Lottery Conrado “Dodie” Zabella said the woman bettor bought the winning lottery ticket -- 27 03 37 24 10 07 – at the appropriately named Best Hope Gaming and Amusement outlet at the Victoria Mall in Caloocan City.
“She is really lucky. We are glad another Filipino's dream has been fulfilled," said Zabella.
He said the woman came to the PCSO at about 3 p.m. the next day accompanied by her son to claim the prize. “She said she did not now yet what to do with the money,” he added.
Zabella said the winner and her husband bought a single ticket with the numbers based on birthdays and anniversaries.
The PCSO official said he hopes there would be winners in the succeeding draws.
While they are helping charity with their bets, the lucky bettors also stand to fulfill their dreams big time, said Zabella.
Zabella said they don't normally advised winners of major prizes on what to do with their winnings to avoid misunderstanding. But they hope the winners spend their winnings wisely.
A check at the Internal Audit Department (IAD) revealed that winning tickets are validated for authenticity, where a machine will say “Pay” if the ticket is genuine.
If the lotto ticket is fake as in some cases, the machine will say “Not Knowing Ticket.”
In that case, the holder of the fake ticket, usually computer-generated, is brought to the Legal Department for appropriate action.
When the winner is for major prize, the process is only validation together with his or her identification card, then the concerned top PCSO officials will take over to protect the winner's identity.
Small prizes winners have to go through validation, checking of ID, signing of prize claim form, recording, then to Treasury.
