“Siguro dapat maturuan ang mga kabataan ng right form of shooting. Sana magaya natin ang mga Koreans na walang set-shot, puro jump shots,” Adornado told sports and entertainment scribes last Tuesday.

Three-time PBA MVP Bogs Adornado is known for his skilled shooting during his heydays. At least for him, it appears unfathomable that today’s current crop of basketball stars seems to lack the precision when it comes to hitting baskets.

During the press launch for this Sunday’s special game pitting past PBA stars against selected amateurs known as Hoopsters, the former Crispa star pointed out that players must be re-educated when it comes to shooting.

He sets as the correct example the style of Koreans who have been beating the Filipinos in recent international meetings.

“Siguro dapat maturuan ang mga kabataan ng right form of shooting. Sana magaya natin ang mga Koreans na walang set-shot, puro jump shots,” he told sports and entertainment scribes last Tuesday.

The Bicolano pride’s statement is an indirect hit to the dismal performance dished out by Smart Gilas in the just concluded Jones Cup.

That team, led by college standouts Chris Tiu and JV Casio, is reportedly eyeing the help of some PBA players to beef up its roster.

“Players today are not as consistent as during our time. Then, we deliver the same energy each game,” he said.

The only player whom he believes is a certified shooter is James Yap of B-Meg Derby Ace.

The most acclaimed of all Crispa players is joining other former PBA MVPs in a game-for-a-cause set at the Cuneta Astrodome this Sunday at 6 p.m.

The event is billed “Hoopsters meet the Legends” as amateurs with strong potentials coming from less privileged communities face some stars in the past decades.

Led by Adornado himself, the Legends team will include Philip Cezar, Freddie Hubalde, Kenneth Duremdes, Vergel Meneses, and Atoy Co, all former MVPs. Four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio, two-time winner Benjie Paras, and Johnny Abarrientos have likewise expressed their interest in joining the affair.

Others joining the star-studded squad are Jerry Codinera, Paul Alvarez, Bal David, and Jun Limpot.
