‘I hold no grudges,’ says Mikey
Ang Galing Pinoy (AGP) Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo said Friday he holds no grudge against the security guard and tricycle driver who brought the disqualification cases filed against him to two in the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET).
"I hold no grudges regarding that," Arroyo said, noting that he understands that even the marginalized sector he represents is divided, with members having different opinions.
Earlier on Thursday, Caloocan City tricycle driver Danilo Antipasado sought Arroyo’s ouster from the House.
Antipasado asked the HRET to remove AGP as one of the party-list organizations and disallow its nominee, Arroyo, from sitting as a member of the House.
Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Colmenares as well as mall security guards Rowell Aggabao Pino and Ronald Estrella accompanied Antipasado in filing the 18-page petition for quo warranto in HRET.
Earning only P200 per day, Antipasado said Arroyo is not eligible and not qualified to sit as representative of AGP as he is a scion of the wealthy Macapagal and Arroyo families.
In his petition, Antipasado said the Comelec decision allowing Arroyo to represent tricycle drivers and security guards was damaging not only to the party-list system “but also the interest of the marginalized and underrepresented."
Antipasado noted that aside from being a member of a powerful clan, Arroyo is also a wealthy individual whose income and assets are way beyond the income and assets of the marginalized and underrepresented.
Arroyo responded by saying that his critics are "just like other groups like Akbayan or Bayan Muna (who) have the same ideology but sometimes they differ in their opinions.”
“I think they (Antipasado) support another party-list group," Arroyo said.
He assured security guards and drivers like Antipasado who do not support his representation in the House of Representatives that they will still benefit from his legislative efforts in the 15th Congress.
