Palace hopeful Aquino will keep high trust rating
Malacañang expressed optimism that President Noynoy Aquino will be able to maintain a high trust rating in upcoming surveys, citing that it will be based on the good performance of the Cabinet members as well as good governance.
“We hope to maintain that kind of trust rating,” Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Saturday over government-run Radyo ng Bayan.
But he said that the high trust rating will not be solely dependent on President Aquino nor the Communications Group but the entire Cabinet and on good governance.
“This is a six-year term and we’re just in our first month of governance,” he said. “The President’s trust rating does not necessarily and solely depend on the Communications Group but is dependent on the entire Cabinet and governance.”
“Maliwanag ang governance style ni Pangulong Aquino: Ang makapagbigay ng immediate response [President Aquino’s governance style is clear. It is to provide immediate response],” Lacierda said, citing the first two problems faced by the new administration: The destruction brought by typhoon “Basyang” in Metro Manila and nearby areas and the water shortage in some parts of Metro Manila earlier this month.
“It shows na very responsive ang Cabinet at ang Pangulo sa mga problema ng bayan, at ito po ay pananatilihin [It shows that the President and his Cabinet members are very responsive towards the needs of the people and this will be sustained],” he assured.
It will be recalled that during his first State-of-the-Nation Address (SoNA) last Monday, July 26, a Pulse Asia survey released its result showing that Mr. Aquino garnered an 85 percent trust rating, which is the highest trust rating recorded in Pulse Asia’s trust surveys. The said survey was conducted from July 1 to 11 among 1,200 respondents. (Madel R. Sabater)
