LPG, most pump prices are reduced
Price cuts for nearly all petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), were announced by independent and major oil companies and retailers on Monday night.
Proving to be rollback-happy the past few weeks is the LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA), which effective 12:01 a.m. Tuesday would impose a P0.50 per kilo cut on their cooking gas products.
What’s better is that the group is eyeing a total reduction of P1.50 per kilo this month, LPGMA President Arnel Ty said.
“We will have two more rollbacks after this. This is because of the $25 per metric ton reduction in world contract prices for August,” explained Ty. Contract price or delivery price for the sensitive commodity dropped to $597 per metric ton this month, from $622 in July.
A price cut of P0.50 per kilo translates to roughly P6-markdown for every 11-kilogram cylinder of cooking gas. As such, regular tanks from the LPGMA would now retail for P526, Ty said.
Tuesday’s rollback would be the 13th by LPGMA member-brands this year.
Meanwhile, oil giant Pilipinas Shell said it would pull down prices of its cooking gas product Shellane by P1 per kilo also at past midnight Tuesday.
This brings down the price of Shellane between P565 and P600, depending on location.
It was recalled that Shell and the LPMGA enforced rollbacks worth P2 per kilo on cooking gas last month.
Shell Spokesperson Bobby Kanapi also bared that a P0.25 per liter rollback on the prices of premium and unleaded gasoline, diesel and kerosene would go with their LPG price cut.
However, regular gasoline will see a hike of P0.25 per liter, Kanapi said. Other oil firms have yet to announce a price adjustment as of press time.
