Charice Pempengco featured in American rock magazine Rolling Stone

Charice Pempengco on the cover of a Rolling Stone magazine? Not quite, but the young singer got a mention in the famed American rock and roll publication when it featured Pempenco at Rollingstone.com.

The short online article introduced the new batch of actors that is set to be a part of the hit TV show ‘Glee’ when it comes back for its second season. Charice Pempengco was the first actor to be mentioned in the article.

The feature read “‘Charice Pempengco’ – role: A Filipino foreign exchange student whose killer pipes challenge New Directions’ brightest star, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).”

Also in the article were each actor’s credentials. Pempengco’s qualification read thus: “This Filipino pop star placed third in Philippines’ equivalent of ‘American Idol’ and has two albums under her belt. (She) began making waves stateside last year after Playing President Obama’s pre-inauguration festivities, the 2009 Oscars and appearing in last year’s ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ movie, Charice got a big lift this May when she performed on ‘Oprah’ a week after her U.S. debut hit stores.”

The new batch of guest actors also includes Chord Overstreet, who plays rival to Corey Monteith’s Finn character. John Stamos who is the new love interest of counselor Emma Pilsbury (Jayma Mays), and broadway actors Cheyenne Jackson, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.

Kanye to tap Facebook, Twitter to promote new album

Rapper Kanye West is looking into social networking sites Facebook and Twitter and the video-sharing site YouTube to promote his upcoming album.

West joined Twitter last Wednesday, a day after visiting the offices of Facebook in Palo Alto, California to preview songs off his yet untitled album.

Videos of West rapping, unaccompanied, while standing on a conference table have already been posted at YouTube and on his website, the rapper posted a letter he wrote to Facebook, thanking the social networking site and its staff for their support.

West’s album is slated for a mid September 2010 release.

Timberlake launches own fashion line

Justin Timberlake will launch William Rast, the brand name of his fashion line, at Target stores all over America. The fashion line company, in which Timberlake and childhood friend Trace Ayala established, will partner up with the US chain store giant Target, for the launch of the apparel company that includes a collection of denim, outerwear and sportswear for men and women.

Timberlake said that, “The typical William Rast style is casual, with an emphasis on jeans and leather jackets.”

The partnership with Target, which will be launched on December, will bring down the cost of this new designer label, to a more affordable price point.
