Host Hobe Bihon-Taguig City and Treston-Laguna hope to turn their fortunes around when they seek a twice-to-beat bonus in the quarterfinal round in the 9th leg and last leg of the Tournament of the Philippines which starts this Wednesday at the Cong. Henry Duenas gym in Taguig City.

Laguna, currently in fifth place with 18 points, battles Agri Nurture Incorporated-FCA (12 pts.) at 12 noon while Taguig, which is just a point behind, takes on Mandaue (eight pts.) at 2:30 p.m.

Taguig City Mayor Laarni Cayetano, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Executive Director Noli Eala, Philippine Basketball League (PBL) Deputy Commissioner Tommy Ong and Liga Pilipinas officials, led by Perry Martinez, are expected to grace the opening ceremonies starting at 2 p.m.

A victory by either Laguna or Taguig in the tournament jointly organized by the PBL and Liga Pilipinas will enable them to dislodge fourth running Ascof Lagundi (26 pts.) since leg winner gets automatic 10 points plus one win for every win in the elims.

A team that sweeps the three-game elims likewise earn additional two points. The second placer receives five points with third and fourth placers getting three and one points, respectively.

Only the top four teams in the nine-team, nine-leg series earn twice-to-beat bonuses in the next round, so far, only M. Lhuillier-Cebu and Misamis Oriental are assured of 1-2 positions with 49 and 39 points.
