Game Wednesday (Araneta Coliseum)
7 p.m. — Talk ’N Text vs Alaska

Momentum is clearly on their side but Alaska Milk coach Tim Cone believes they have to exhaust everything in their arsenal if they like to play in the Finals of the PBA Fiesta Cup.

According to Cone, beating Talk ’N Text in a no-tomorrow Game 7 this Wednesday is no ordinary task, knowing how talented the team of coach Chot Reyes is.

“Any Game 7, it’s always a 50-50,” Cone said.

Game time is at 7 p.m. with everybody expecting a tight and exciting game unlike in Game 6 which the Aces practically dominated.

The Milkmen forced a do-or-die showdown in their best-of-seven semis series by pulling off a 91-83 victory in Game 6 last Sunday, a victory that gave them the extra boost for Wednesday’s deciding match.

History, however, is not on Alaska’s side.

“The last time we played a Game 7 was against Talk ’N Text, and we lost that game,” added Cone, referring to the Philippine Cup Finals two seasons back. “This is my third Game 7 with this team.”

The first time their series went the full route, the Aces won.

The winner in the Alaska-TNT duel will earn the right to meet San Miguel Beer in another best-of-seven finals.

Living up to the expectations, the Beermen beat sister company B-Meg Derby Ace 4-2, in their own series.

Cone also expects a different TNT to show up, saying: “They came out a little unfocused and little soft. But I’m sure they’ll be ready.”

The two ball clubs will have injury problems with Alaska’s 6-foot-8 Sonny Thoss already out of the series with sprained left ankle while TNT guard Ryan Reyes remains a doubtful starter due to a bothersome knee.

Aside from the injury to Reyes, the Texters will have to decide whether or not to change import, from the wide-bodied Shawn Daniels to Omar Sneed, who has been practicing with the team since last week when he arrived from a previous tournament in Israel as a stand-by import.

“We’ll decide after practice,” Reyes said.
