Allenby slipped on his boat while on a weekend fishing expedition in the Bahamas last weekend and suffered torn ligaments. He expects to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

Allenby, ranked 14th in the world, underwent surgery on Tuesday and said doctors told him he should be able to return in time for the US PGA Tour playoff events that start in four weeks, although he will miss the final major tournament of the season, which starts in eight days at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.

AKRON, Ohio, Aug 4, 2010 (AFP) – Australian Robert Allenby withdrew from the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational on Wednesday and will miss next week's PGA Championship after needing right knee surgery.
