Putting kids first

Finally, a preschool that lets children get the most out of their early years.

Studies on early childhood development have increasingly supported the idea that children learn best when they are allowed to play, explore, and experience things on their own.

According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), a US-based organization dedicated to promoting excellence in early childhood education, only 20 percent of educational institutions that claim to practice such developmentally appropriate programs for young children actually do.

Among the few preschools on the globe and, perhaps, the only preschool in the country that faithfully abide by the standards of NAEYC is the Kid’s First Discovery Space which was established by a young balikbayan teacher in 2004.

Play based approach

The Kid’s First Discovery Space prides itself on embracing the uniqueness of each child and respecting their individual learning styles. Kid’s First uses a play-based approach to help the young understand their environment, while they interact and share experiences with other children as well.

Collaborative Approach

The school has a small student-teacher ratio, with usually one adult supervising a maximum of three toddlers and a maximum of seven preschoolers. Home-school partnership is also strongly encouraged such that both parties are aware of the learning progress of the children.

Teachers here also collaborate with developmental pediatricians, especially with the recent inclusion of the Early Childhood Intervention program into its curriculum for enrollees with developmental delays and additional needs.

Kid’s First Discovery Space is at Venture Building, Market cor. Prime streets Madrigal Business Park Muntinlupa City. For inquiries, call 556-3887/0917-8338983, or email kidsfirsteci@yahoo.com.ph.
