Palace to introduce Aquino’s official website
Malacañang will introduce Monday an official website for President Aquino to connect with Filipinos in fulfillment of a promise to have a modern feedback mechanism.
Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma said the latest online effort, www.president.gov.ph, will contain latest activities and programs of the Aquino government as well as features how to communicate with the President.
Coloma said the website will include the President’s official accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as means to bridge the communication gap between the government and the people. At present, the site has a countdown to the August 16 launch in the Palace.
The creation of the official website is part of the President’s resolve to know the sentiments of the people and have them as partners in good governance, according to Coloma.
The President, who won a huge mandate in the last elections on the promise of wiping out corruption, has tapped online social networks to reach out to the public. The creation of the massive communications group was partly due to the need to bring the government closer to the people through traditional and new media.
Apart from the new site, the newly created Communications Group maintains two other sites, specifically www.gov.ph and www.ops.gov.ph., that have boosted the President’s online presence.
The first website, also known as the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines, contains the President’s executive issuances, statements, speeches, his platform of government, among others.
This information site is under the supervision of Presidential Development and Strategic Planning head Ramon Carandang.
The other web site handled by Coloma’s team, on the other hand, involves the news and photos about the President’s daily engagements.
