Malacañang said on Saturday that it will monitor the developments on the ongoing investigation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Rear Admiral Feliciano Angue, who is currently on floating status for violating the military Code of Ethics and Articles of War.

Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning (PCDSP) Secretary Ricky Carandang however said that it will not meddle on the case as the investigation is already being handled by the military.

“It’s an Armed Forces issue right now. The Palace is watching, the Palace is monitoring but right now it’s an issue that the Armed Forces and the DND (Department of National Defense) is [taking care of],” he said.

“The AFP is investigating it. Let’s wait for the AFP to make some recommendations,” he added.

Carandang assured that Angue’s grievances will be investigated. He however said that the sanction would not have been imposed if he followed orders.

It will be recalled that Rear Admiral Angue aired his grievances to the media on his alleged demotion.

“They were simply asking that he remain prudent and not to [talk] too much, to avoid demoralizing the Armed Forces and also alarming the public and hindi naman niya ito ginawa [he did not follow],” Carandang explained, saying that he will be on floating status while the investigation is ongoing.

Angue, former chief of the AFP’s National Regional Command, was tasked to head the Naval Forces of the Western Mindanao Command.
