BOGOTA (Xinhua) -- The Colombian authorities said on Wednesday that five people died, including a child, in a plane accident in the east of Colombia.

Colombian Civil aeronautics' Colonel Hector Carrascal said that the bodies were already taken to the Legal Medicine Institute in Yopal, capital of Casanare department.

"A resident of the zone informed us about the accident. The police is already in the place of the accident. We have been informed that the light aircraft was completely destroyed," Carrascal told local media.

A light aircraft fell down on Wednesday in a rural zone in eastern Colombia. The accident happened in surrounding areas of Casanare's department, in the Oriental Colombian Plains.

The crew was directing the plane to a private track in The Fazenda, an agricultural unit located in surrounding areas of the population of Port Gaitan.

Carrascal added that it will be difficult to know the reasons of the accident because the light aircraft, which left from Bucaramanga, didn't have a black box.
