DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo said that he believes that there should have been a balance between the public's right to know and the safety of the hostages when questioned by Senator Loren Legarda during the senate hearing regarding the hostage crisis on Monday as televised by ANC.

"Nawala ang preemptive advantage ng PNP nung nakikita ng hostage taker ang mga nangyayari sa labas...sinabi ko na dapat hindi nakikita ng hostage taker ang mga nagyayari sa labas."

When asked to explain why he didn't pursue it, Robredo said "while I mentioned it, I was on my way [to the hostage situation] but having said that, I presumed that somebody would do it."
