Perennial love team and rumored sweethearts Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson have kept people guessing about the true state of their relationship. Really?

In an abs-cbnNEWS.com report last August 27, Gerald was quoted as saying, “Magka-away kami. Magka-away kami.” Kim, meanwhile, “just smiled and didn’t say anything” as reported by the news site.

The two’s curious reactions are said to have been obtained after the press conference for their new endorsement.

Story was, after the press con, the two were pulled out and taken to a private room by their respective road managers. After some time, Kim and Gerald came out of the room and that’s when Gerald said his very short piece.

A few days before, however, an entertainment website reported that the two are in good terms. Kris Aquino, a close friend of Kim, is said to have confirmed this. The TV host reportedly related that she received a text message from the young actress assuring her that she and Gerald are “okay again.”

Kim and Gerald’s off-cam relationship is rumored to have been on the rocks for a few months now. The former’s alleged suicide attempt is said to have been caused by her break-up with the latter. Toni Gonzaga, in a previous episode of “The Buzz,” related her observations on the seeming coldness between the two on the set of “ASAP XV.”

Several people have been linked to the two, but most fingers point to actress Bea Alonzo as the reason Kim and Gerald purportedly called it quits.

In a press conference, Bea declined to answer queries on Gerald’s rumored advances on her.

"Bakit ako ang sasagot niyan? Hindi naman ako po ang dapat sasagot niyan," she said.

Bea is also saddened by the “hate campaign” rumored to have been created by Kimerald fans.

"Siyempre nakakalungkot na hindi ka gusto. Pero ang masasabi ko lang, wala akong ginagawa at wala akong dapat ikabahala sa point of view ko lang po," she maintained.
