Comedian Kempee de Leon has a 14-year old daughter whom he only publicly revealed just recently.

 “Bata pa ako noon. Hindi pa ako ready ipakita sa tao, sa inyo, kung ano ang meron ako behind camera o ano, ano ‘yung personal ko. Pero ngayon, I’m proud kasi nadadala  ko na siya sa ‘Eat Bulaga,'” Keempee said on “Juicy,”  Sept. 1.

Did his daughter with a non-showbiz girl take his years-long hesitation against him?

“Hindi pa niya naiintindihan ‘yun eh. Pero in-explain ko sa kanya at naintindihan naman ng mommy niya at saka ng lola niya kasi they’re very private people although may background sila ng actors. Naintindihan nila,” he explained.

Being a single dad has its up and downs.

“Mahirap in a sense kasi nagdadalaga na ang anak ko. Siyempre, iba na ang outlook niya, iba na ang pag-iisip niya... nagma-mature na. Proud ako kasi okay naman, maganda siya.”

Like any father, Keempee is protective of his daughter when it comes to her bevy of admirers.

“Alam ko may crushes na ‘yan, may mga nanliligaw sa school. Hindi ako nawawalan ng time para sabihan siya lagi, magpaalala. Nand’un din ang mommy niya, mga tita niya.”

A low-key celebrity, Keempee’s romance of late has not been a fodder to gossip columns. During the “Juicy” interview, he admits he’s ready for a relationship though having one is quite impossible lately owing to his hectic schedule.

“I go out on dates pero I just broke up with my girlfriend two years ago. Traumatic experience at the same time hindi pa ako ready. Pero now I’m ready. I go out on dates pero with my schedule right now bihira akong makalabas-labas. So, medyo nagtatampo na rin ang mga kaibigan ko. Magpakita raw ako, magparamdam daw ako.”
