Palace hands off in Luisita case
Manila, Philippines — Malacañang remained hands off in the Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) case now pending in the Supreme Court (SC).
Reports said that some sectors were dismayed over the position of Solicitor General Jose Anselmo Cadiz in the case.
“Hayaan nalang natin yung judicial process to take its course [Let us just allow the judicial process to take its course],” Presidential Communications Operations (PCO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma said over DZRB.
The Palace had already appealed earlier to leave the Hacienda Luisita issue with the Supreme Court, saying that President Aquino has “no hand” on the compromise agreement.
A compromise agreement, already with the SC, seeks to resolve the dispute over the sugar plantation in Tarlac.
It will be recalled that the SC has just created a special mediation panel in a bid to settle the dispute among the HLI and the farmers.
