TEACHERS CAMP, Baguio City – To the Filipino students, “Kayo ang boss ng Department of Education (DepEd)!”

This was stressed by Education Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro in his written message he sent to over 3,000 public and private high school student-leaders from 17 regions of the country who started on Saturday in this government campsite their National Leadership Training for Student Government Officers (NLTSGO)

The NLTSGO opening program had Vice President Jejomar C. Binay as keynote speaker, according to Director Joey G. Pelaez of the DepEd Center for Students and Co-Curricular Affairs (CSCA) which is administering and managing the week-long training.

Luistro noted that the NLTSGO, which focuses on the theme “Team Supreme Student Government (SSG): Making the Dream Work,” is a significant instrument in honing the leadership skills of the “Kabataang Pinoy” who are the country's future leaders.

Saying that education is everybody's concern, Luistro emphasized that educating the youth is not only the sole responsibility of the DepEd but is also a shared obligation of all education stakeholders in the community.

“We also wish to build a band of private and public organizations that will work together for a better state of basic education,” Luistro said, adding that in a large scale, “This is the kind of nation that the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III wants for the Filipino people.”
