Make weekends happier days
It’s your most anticipated day of the week. For students and members of the working class alike, weekends and days off are considered happy days. No waking up early in the morning, no long commutes and big crowds like the MRT and LRT and no bosses or teachers to see and listen to.
For most people, it probably is the happiest day of the week – when your time is your own and you can forget your obligations – that is outside your home – and just rest. Or for some, make the most out the day without having to face the world outside.
Here are some ideas that could make each day off and weekend worth your time and give yourself a fresh start come Monday morning when you have to go back to your weekly routine.
Wake up in time for brunch.
Weekends are the most perfect moments to get up in time for brunch – forget about having breakfast – and not worry about being late. This is probably the only time when you can actually enjoy skipping breakfast and just have a feast later.
Stop being a mouse potato and revert to being a couch potato.
For those who work in front of computers all day, it’s time to spend more time with the old and friendly television. Stop updating your Facebook and your Twitter accounts and revert to the good old days when the television was your most favorite companion.
Watch movies with friends and have plain, good fun.
This can happen impromptu with people like you who haven’t got plans for the weekend or you can plan the whole thing and inform your friends earlier. Either way, you – being the event planner – must be ahead of everyone else.
Before the week ends, list down the movies that you and your friends want to see and grab them at the nearest DVD rental shops. You may go down memory lane and watch classics or indulge in tearjerkers that are even good to lessen the stress you amassed from the previous week. Who knows, you may even make it a monthly friends-only habit!
Spend time at home cooking.
May you be a soon-to-be chef or just pretending to be one, nothing beats making your own specialty dish or just your own simple, easy-to-prepare snack for your loved ones. But no pressure! Just spend quality time with your mother, sister, friend or partner in the kitchen and enjoy not having to eat out.
