Taken for granted Manila
Manila is highly overrated. Or so they say. But for someone who grew up in the province, the Philippine capital is perceived to be a very big place, with lots of things to offer. From what people can see in televisions, the city is presented to be full of different people, nice places to see and, of course, celebrities.
However, for those who have spent most of their lives in the city, after the novelty of being in Manila have passed, most are left disillusioned about the big city and are left to believe that the place is overrated.
One can’t blame them for thinking so, though. With all the hustle and bustle in Manila – the noise, crowded streets, and crowded malls – everything seems to be not highly incredible at first glance.
But there are still places to see and things to do in Manila that, even with all the noise and all the people, are still worth your time.
If you try to look closely, there are little things in the city that are taken for granted. Manila is not just about malls. It is a city rich with culture and historical landmarks that people trade for popular malls and clubs.
It is also where the different government buildings and landmarks are situated. If you get tired of going to places where you always go, you may try visiting places like the Nayong Pilipino and the Coconut Palace to see and experience the Philippines in a different light.
Parks located in the city are not just about statues and heroes, too. You may try walking or jogging around them during your leisure time at the same time appreciate the history that led to the making of the park.
Lastly, if you’re tired of riding jeepneys and cabs, try visiting the walled city Intramuros, where kalesas – horse-driven carriages – are still operating. You can tour around the area or ask the kuchero – kalesa driver – to take you to different spots near the area like the National Museum and Luneta.
