Easy Ways to Organize your Drawer
If you live like most people – with no maids to follow your every move and organize the line of mess you leave behind each time you dress, eat or do just about anything – you may be used to clutter.
Your bedroom, apartment or dorm room may be always lined with different materials – from clothes and socks to booze bottles and pizza boxes – that are often unrecognizable through all the mess. You may even be used to misplacing your items because of the amount of things that you need to keep in order.
If you live like this, you must think of drawers as household items sent by the gods from heaven! The best thing about drawers is that you can store every item inside them that visitors in your home will not notice them.
However, this function also happens to be the drawback of having them. As much as you like them for storing almost everything, well, they store almost everything! Drawers have the ability to lose your things because of all the junk you put inside them.
If you feel that your drawers are starting to become items from hell, then they must be organized and reorganized.
The first thing that you have to do is to take everything out. This way you’ll see everything in the open and decide which items you need and don’t need. But make sure to wear protective gloves when going through this, as your drawers may contain broken pieces that can hurt you.
Next is to spot the trash. Things that you don’t need any more could go directly to the trash bag while your long-lost bathroom keys need to remain.
After spotting all the trash, you need to sort items from the drawers into piles – buttons, keys, bills, socks and so on. Items that do not belong should be stocked differently.
Before putting them back into the drawer, be sure to have a drawer organizer to make it easier for you to keep track of your drawer contents. You can also make one depending on the sizes of the drawer’s contents.
After organizing one drawer, proceed to the next. Make room for the objects you removed from the previous drawer in a new one. You can also label drawers, if you have more, to help you find what you need the next time you look for it.
