National Trainers Encounter Winners
Three excellent trainers from TESDA Technology Institutes (TTI) were named master trainers in the first National Trainers Encounter.
Awarded the said title were Romeo Emen of General Santos School of Arts and Trades (GSNSAT) for carpentry, Michael Manalo of Simeon Suan Vocational Training College (SSVTC) in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro for welding, and Lauro Serafin of the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Baguio for machining.
They were among the nine outstanding trainers from TTIs who topped the three zonal trainers encounters in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao organized by the Office of TESDA Technology Institutes (OTTI) and held at the Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades on Aug. 25-26.
Participant-competitors did not compete against one another but against existing TESDA training standards. The criteria for judging include computer-based knowledge test, skills/expertise, and completeness of computer-based learning materials (CBLM).
The other participants were Godofredo Macale of Samar National School Arts and Trades (SNSAT), Region VIII, Allan M. Leander of Provincial Training Center-Baler, Region III, Julius V. Tuyod of PTC-Davao, Region XI, John Q, Caballero of PTC-Hamtic, Region VI, Pablo H. Cortez of RTC-Talisay, Region VI, and Jonathan P. Rasonable of Kabasalan Institute of Technology (KIT), Region IX.
TESDA- BOSCH partnership
The power tools awarded to the winners were donated by Robert Bosch, Inc. which agreed to initiate and conduct training programs with TESDA to enhance the knowledge and skills of the trainees using portable power tools technology.
Deputy Director General Milagros Dawa Hernandez lauded the plan of Robert Bosch, Inc. to provide a soft loan package to TTI graduates for acquiring power tools which they can use to start a service shop business.
Bosch’s sales director Matheus Contiero also announced during the awarding ceremony his company’s decision to offer discounts to the 126 TTIs in the purchase of training tools and equipment.
