BRUNEI — The Philippine Patriots shoot for their third straight win this Saturday when they play their first out-of-the-country game against the Brunei Barracudas in the AirAsia Asean Basketball League (ABL) Season 2.

Game time is 8 p.m. with the RP Patriots also aiming for the solo lead.

Co-owned by Harbour Centre owner Mikee Romero and Tony Boy Cojuangco, the Patriots have won back-to-back wins at home, and coach Louie Alas hopes the defending champions can keep their streak even without top gunner and import Anthony Johnson.

Johnson, who scored 24 points when they beat the Barracudas (71-62) two weeks ago, is recuperating from a hamstring injury.

“I hope the players won’t feel they are playing on unfamiliar territory. I hope they will just play their own brand of game,” Alas said.

Fellow import Donald Little, who has been struggling lately, is expected to fill in Johnson’s shoes, Alas said.

“We need to draw big numbers from Donald. He should come out with double-double performance,” Alas said. “Not just 10-10 numbers, we need 20-15 from him. It's about time. I know he can do a lot better.”

The 6-foot-11 Little hasn't been a factor offensively for the team, although he was a monster in the defensive end especially in the Patriots’ thrilling 62-59 victory over the Singapore Slingers last week.

Little, who once played alongside current NBA star Tracy McGrady during his high school days at Mount Zion Christian Academy, only had seven points and nine rebounds, but had five blocks in 37 minutes of action in that game.

To cushion the absence of Johnson, Alas and team manager Erick Arejola have tapped the services of Fil-Am Alex Crisano and rugged Orly Daroya to add more muscle in the shaded lane.
