MANILA, Philippines — Top seed Jeson Patrombon went against the advise of his coach and suffered a embarrassing 2-6, 1-6 defeat to unseeded German Kevin Kaczynski in the second round of the Yonex LTAT-ITF Juniors Championships Tuesday in Nonthaburi , Thailand.

Although not feeling well due to flu-like symptoms, Patrombon insisted of playing, hoping he can withstand his ailment to beat his German rival who is just ranked No. 170 in the ITF.

But the German was up to the challenge to bring down the Filipino ace.

“I told him, ‘Mentally, you are going to pay the price,’ but he said he wanted to try,” said Tecson.

Patrombon played in a very cold condition in Japan before playing in Thailand which is quite humid.

With his current condition and his singles defeat, Tecson said he’s considering pulling Patrombon from his second-round doubles match where he and his Uzbek partner Sergey Shipilov are slated to collide against Nattan Benjasupawan and Warit Sornbutnark of Thailand.
