David Foster on Charice: 'She’ll probably win a Grammy'

MANILA, Philippines — Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter and producer David Foster is confident that Charice has a huge chance of bagging a Grammy award one day.
During a part of his interview with Suzanne Jung of Channel News Asia’s “Primetime Morning,” David talked about his goddaughter and latest protégé Charice, citing the young performer’s unique singing style as one of her strengths.
The hit maker discovered Charice after her guesting on “Oprah” back in 2008. Since then, David has been mentoring and grooming her to become the next big superstar.
However, while David surely is the one helping Charice the most, he also gives credit to everyone else contributing to Charice’s blooming international career.
“Not just me, there's been so many people that have been helping her in her camp. You know, it takes a village, it's not just one person,” said he.
Asked about his thoughts on Asian talents, David admitted that he’s been saying for years now that the next big star would be from Asia.
“I only say that not to profile, but there's a billion and a half Asian people. They make up a third of the world's population. It only makes sense. You know, talent doesn't know race, creed, color, geography. Talent just is. And you just gotta know that there's a ton of talented people in every nook and cranny of the planet. Why shouldn't there be a star from Asia?...They're all there, we just have to find them and bring them to the world,” he stated.
David Foster is the same man who discovered world-renowned acts such as Celine Dion, Josh Groban and Michael Bublé. He is also the songwriter behind numerous worldwide hits like “You’re The Inspiration,” “Glory Of Love,” and “I Have Nothing.”
