MANILA, Philippines - After proving her acting skills anew by bagging the “Best Single Performance by an Actress” award at the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Television recently, Gretchen Barretto is thinking of choosing her next projects more carefully.

"Ayokong gawin lahat-lahat, tapos hindi ko [naman] maibigay yung 100% na Gretchen. Kung gagawa ako ng teleserye, talagang teleserye lang gaya ng ginawa ko sa 'Magkaribal'. Para naman mapaligaya ko ang manonood at 100% naka-focus ako sa acting. Para hindi naman sila ma-disappoint,” said she in an interview aired on "Juicy!"

She feels doing so is her "responsibility" to her public and that it is part of the "new Gretchen." She plans to draw from her wealth of experience to become a better actress.

“Malalim naman talaga yung mga pinagdaanan ko sa buhay. Ang kaibahan nga lang ngayon ay alam ko na kung pa'no gamitin ang mga experience ko in my past.”

The past weeks have seen Gretchen involved with a fair number of disputes with other showbiz personalities that came about due to her controversial statements.

When asked about this, the actress said, “Gano'n talaga ang buhay. Gano'n talaga, siguro masasanay din ako. Minsan sanay na rin. Pero sana wag na lang tayo negative... I only want peace and love.”

This is the second time Gretchen won such an award for long-running TV program, “Maalaala Mo Kaya”. This year, she was given the award for her outstanding performance in the “Larawan” episode, while on 2009 she was commended for her appearance on “Salamin.”
