MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Edgardo Angara on Monday said he does not see any truth to a reported widening rift between Malacañang and the Supreme Court justices even in the light of a series of legal setbacks faced by the administration.

Angara said he does not see any potential clash happening between the Palace and the Supreme Court in the future saying the public should just give the Executive and the Judiciary “time to get its bearings.”

The senator issued the statement following the SC’s latest declaration that Executive Order No. 1 or Aquino’s creation of the Truth Commission as unconstitutional.

Aside from this, the Executive also received a serious backlash for issuing EO No. 3 that revoked President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s order automatically granting lawyers occupying legal positions in government third level career executive official service (CESO III) rank.

Malacañang also earned flak for issuing EO No. 2 which revoked the appointments of 977 so-called midnight appointees.

But Angara is optimistic no serious conflict would arise between the two co-equal branches of government.
