Two Chinese, Filipino cohort nabbed with P27-million shabu
MANILA, Philippines (PNA) — National Capitol Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Nicanor Bartolome on Wednesday announced the arrest of three drug suspects and confiscation of six kilograms of shabu with an estimated street value of P27 million.
Bartolome said that two of the arrested suspects were Chinese nationals identified as Wendun Chen, 45, alias Wilson Tan, businessman, and a resident of 235 Fidel St., Tondo, Manila; and Lianfu Chen, 56, alias Jimmy Tan, a resident of Binondo, Manila, both natives of Fujian, China.
The third suspect was identified as Saidali Magdao Muliloda, 45, a native of Marawi City and presently residing at 50 Birmingham St. in Pasig City.
Bartolome said the successful operation was made after operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (RAID-SOTG), led by Insp. Ernesto Capungcol, conducted buy-bust operation at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near a 7-11 convenience store located along Quirino Avenue, Paco, Manila.
Recovered from the suspects' possession were about six kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with estimated street value of P27 million, three cell phones used by the suspects, a gray Nissan Cefiro with licensed plate numbers XMS-883 and a white Toyota Fortuner with licensed plate numbers ZFE-154, and the buy-bust money consisting of 10 pieces P1,000 with boodle money.
Chief Supt. Miguel Laurel, NCRPO’s Deputy Regional Director for Operations, who is supervising Case Operation Plan: "Ice Meltdown", said that the investigation is focusing on their local contacts.
Bartolome lauded the capture of the suspects, saying that the prevention of street crimes and proliferation of illegal drugs are priorities of NCRPO.
“As much as possible, we prefer to be proactive rather than reactive. Six kilos of shabu is a lot, and the prevention of the proliferation of drugs in the streets is indeed a major accomplishment,” said Bartolome.
Criminal cases are being readied for violations of Section 5 (sale, trading, dispensation, delivery), Section 11 (possession) and Section 26 (attempt or conspiracy) of Article II, R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) before the City Prosecutor's Office in Manila.
