4 perish in Paranaque City fire

MANILA, Philippines (PNA) -- Four persons, including three minors, died Wednesday morning after they were trapped inside a burning house in Paranaque City, a day after two people also perished in a similar incident in Makati City.

Authorities identified the victims as retired teacher Venus Bacolod and the three minors, aged 10, 12 and 16, whose bodies were recovered by responding firefighters inside the burned house on Hernandez Street, San Antonio Valley 10, Paranaque City.

The blaze started around 2:58 a.m. and quickly spread to the houses of 20 other families in the area before firefighters managed to put the flames under control nearly two hours later.

Earlier, another fire hit a residential area between 7th and 8th Streets in Santo Niño village, Paranaque at 1 a.m.

The fire started at the house of one Erlinda Cruz near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).

Early on Tuesday, two people died in a fire at the ground floor of CHR Building located at the corner of Evangelista and Dallas Streets in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City.

Makati fire chief Superintendent Samuel Tadeo identified the fatalities as Eddie Badilla, 19, and bar receptionist Tess Campos, 20. Damage to property was placed at P500,000.
