Muntinlupa, Taguig mark Hearts Day with mass weddings
MANILA, Philippines – A total of 246 couples got married on Valentine’s Day in Muntinlupa City while 132 couples tied the knot on the same day in Taguig City.
Muntinlupa Mayor Aldrin San Pedro officiated the “Kasalang Panlungsod” which was held on Monday afternoon at SM Supercenter in Tunasan, Muntinlupa.
The oldest couple who got married were Mildred Layosa, 63, and Ferdinand Grutas, 45.
Also joining the ceremony were couple Federico Lagman, 86, and his wife, Anita, 74, from Sucat, Muntinlupa.
They joined the ceremony to renew their vows and celebrate their 55 years of happy marriage.
“The ‘Kasalang Panlungsod’ is a free program that helps couples legalize their relationship,” the mayor said.
The youngest among the participants were couple Argie Boticario, 19, and Reyalyn Gabriel, 18.
A father and his daughter also got married to their respective partners.
Delfin Memoracion wed Victoria Penaranda while his daughter, Manilyn Memoracion married Arvin Baustista.
Yolanda Tamayo, who celebrated her birthday on Valentine’s Day, also got married to Jovencio Gapan.
Joining the mayor in the ceremony were Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac and city councilors.
Meanwhile, the local government of Taguig City also sponsored Monday afternoon a “Valentine Wedding Special” which was attended by 132 couples.
The mass wedding ceremony, which was officiated by no less than Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano at the Taguig City Hall Quadrangle, was witnessed by their family, friends and other loved ones.
