MANILA, Philippines – Hotels around Metro Manila were not spared by the police when they conducted inspections last Monday in all public areas to ensure that safety measures are in place during the celebration of Valentine’s Day.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Nicanor Bartolome personally conducted an inspection at the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations last Monday as the police earlier expected people to come out to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Bartolome also visited bus terminals, malls and key business establishments in checking the deployment of bus marshals as well as other security measures being undertaken by the police.

He said he wants to know if bus marshals are observing the required protocols in their job with the intention of improving the quality of service being rendered to the public by the police.

“We want to see how we can better serve the commuters and get their feedbacks on how we can improve the current system,” Bartolome said.

The NCRPO chief also said their target is to ensure public safety and security while at the same time minimize the impact of the inspections on commuters.

Bartolome also instructed all the NCRPO’s five district directors to deploy police in hotels and concert venues where local and foreign tourists perform.

The district directors were also told to conduct inspection in their areas of responsibilities to ensure a peaceful celebration of Valentine’s Day.
