MANILA, Philippines — Recent developments in English Language teaching has given rise to a special branch of language instruction: English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Because of the need for communicative competence in ones field or profession, college students are now offered English language courses that focused on improving the use of English in everyday applications. Nursing students are one of the early recipients of this new branch of English language teaching.

Anvil Publishing Inc released this new book that answers this need. Designed for the nursing profession, Technical Writing for Nursing Students by Leonides R. Cajucom focuses on the language of writing in the world of nursing.

Technical Writing for Nursing Students gives nurses and students a guidebook to practice and nderstand English as it is used in the health industry. The book not only familiarizes its readers with vocabulary but also helps enhance their writing skills. Divided into six chapters, the book covers the basics of technical writing, elements of style and patterns of development in writing. It also shows the user how to classify reports and write a resumé, and other office documents (i.e. tables, charts, pie graphs, bar graphs, etc.).

Leonides R. Cajucom, PhD, obtained his bachelors degree in Political Science-English (cum laude) and his masters degree in English at Araullo University, and his doctorate degree in Language and Literature (majoring in English) at De La Salle University.
