BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. (PIA) – The Sangguniang Panlungsod here, in its regular session, requested the help of Bacolod City Police Office to help the Bacolod Traffic Authority in ridding the streets of colorum motorized tricycles.

The resolution authored by Councilor Dindo Ramos requested BCPO Director Ricardo dela Paz to direct his police station commanders in all barangays to get rid of colorum motorized tricycles freely plying the streets of Bacolod.

These colorum tricycles cause apparent damage and prejudice to legitimate motorized tricycle operators religiously paying taxes and dues to the city, but do not enjoy protection from the operation of colorum counterparts, the resolution read.

Ramos’ proposed resolution precisely seeks to protect legitimate tricycle operators who pay their dues in compliance with the provision of City Ordinance No. 436, Series of 2007.

City Ordinance No. 436, Series of 2007, requires all operators of motorized tricycles for hire to secure Business Permits, Franchise to Operate and pay other regulatory fees before they are allowed to ply their respective routes.
