OWWA resumes livelihood program for displaced OFWs
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (PNA) - The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) here is coordinating with other agencies for the resumption of livelihood programs for displaced overseas workers.
Loreta Rivera, OWWA social services division chief, said the livelihood program proved effective for the displaced workers two years ago as shown by their repayments of their soft loans.
Rivera said most of the livelihood ventures of the displaced workers were agricultural-based since the Cordillera region has a prime agricultural industry.
Others pursued manufacturing and services.
"As to others who would prefer to stay put in their Middle East jobs, we cannot impose for their repatriation because they are far from the troubled areas and remain to have good paying jobs," she added.
